N.C. Electric Cooperatives Celebrate Lineman Appreciation Day

Raleigh, NC — North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives are joining more than 900 electric cooperatives across the nation to celebrate Monday, April 10 as National Lineman Appreciation Day. The occasion provides an opportunity to recognize the hardworking men and women who selflessly build, maintain and repair the poles and lines that power our lives.

“Electric linemen are true public servants,” said Nelle Hotchkiss, senior vice president of corporate relations of North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives, a trade association serving North Carolina’s 26 independent electric cooperatives. “They work all hours of the day, often in hazardous conditions far from their families, going above and beyond to restore power to their communities. Our linemen, as well as linemen from across the nation, truly deserve this special day of recognition.”

There are more than 18,000 electric cooperative linemen in the nation, about 1,400 of which are from North Carolina. Electric cooperatives are proudly recognizing all electric linemen for the services they perform around the clock to keep power flowing and protect the public’s safety.

North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives invite cooperative members to take a moment to thank a lineman for the work they do. Join us on Facebook and Twitter and use #ThankaLineman to show your support for the men and women who light our lives.

North Carolina’s 26 electric cooperatives provide, safe, reliable and affordable power to approximately 2.5 million people in 93 of the state’s 100 counties, primarily in rural areas.
